What an amazing Day of Action it turned out to be, hosted by the dedicated volunteer group, Volunteer United (VU) through Sioux Empire United Way (SEUW). In its inaugural year individuals and groups from all walks of life united to create a significant and positive impact within our community. Here's a glimpse of the day's highlights and the outcomes achieved together:
🤝 Forged Connections: In partnership with SEUW's local partner agencies, we fostered connections between 178 volunteers, 26 local businesses and 17 partner agencies. Through agency tours and hands-on projects, participants gained valuable insights into impactful programs directly influencing lives in our community. One volunteer shared their most memorable part of the day, “Interacting with the residents at DakotAbilities and playing bingo with them. I thought the tour of the facility was super interesting. I didn't realize all the different things that are happening there. It was a wonderful and impactful day!!”.
👐 Hands-On Projects: From preparing meals to painting and serving guests, volunteers engaged in a variety of hands-on projects, supporting agencies vital to our community's well-being. Their dedication and hard work made a tangible difference in the lives of those in need. In just a single afternoon, volunteers collectively donated over an estimated 500 hours of their time! One agency shared, “ It was incredible to see such enthusiasm and joy from our volunteers! Smiles and laughs were on-going as they jumped in and made a huge difference in the landscape of one of our homes. It was a big project and they tackled it!”
🎉 Annual Celebration: Following the day's activities, volunteers gathered at The Social for the Volunteer United Annual Celebration. It was a joyous occasion filled with connections, appreciation, and a sense of community. Volunteers, board members, staff, and partner agencies came together to celebrate the collective efforts of the past year. This year, two volunteers, Abby Andal and Nick Hausman, were recognized for their exceptional dedication to VU.
As we reflect on the success of the 2024 Day of Action, we're reminded of the power of community and the difference we can make when we unite together with passion and purpose.
