Volunteer with Sioux Empire United Way

Join us in supporting Feeding South Dakota! We're proud to support this new SEUW funded program in 2025 with their mission to end hunger in South Dakota.

Together we'll help with a range of tasks based on their operational needs for the day. Opportunities include packing boxes for their mobile food distribution and senior box programs, preparing bags for their Backpack program, and sorting through their donated items.

Volunteers are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing and close-toed shoes. Parking is available in the east parking lot - a sign that reads "Volunteer Parking" means you are in the correct place! Please check-in at the front desk by 8:55 am.

To participate you will need to register before January 2nd & sign a waiver with Feeding South Dakota. Please be on the lookout for an email with a link to the waiver 1 week before the event.

Join Volunteer United & Meals on Wheels at Active Generations to help package meals for local individuals that are unable to prepare healthy, consistent meals in their homes for medical or social reasons.

Volunteers will serve on a packing line that is very similar to a school cafeteria packing system. Items are scooped into trays and stamped. On average, volunteers pack approximately 580 meals. These meals are then delivered by volunteers and staff to homebound clients throughout the Sioux Empire. Individuals must stand during the packing process but will not be lifting items.

Join Volunteer United to support Toy Lending Library in their mission to help children ages zero to five enhance their learning and development through the power of play. After receiving a quick tour, volunteers can help inventory and process returned toy boxes, clean and sanitize toys, and even help create new boxes!

This volunteer opportunity will not require any heavy lifting or operating of vehicles and can be completed seated or standing. Volunteers can park in the lot across Spring Ave and enter east entrance of 1st United Methodist Church.

Volunteer United is excited to invite you to the 2025 Day of Action! Join us alongside our locally funded SEUW nonprofit partners to provide practical and tangible solutions to the challenges they may be facing. Whether it’s preparing meals, painting furniture, or serving guests, we look forward to supporting the agencies impacting our community!

Volunteers will be expected to complete hands on projects and agency tours from 1 - 3:45 pm and are invited to attend the Day of Action Kickoff beforehand. This will be a great opportunity to mingle with SEUW volunteers, board members, staff, and partner agencies.

Individual and volunteer groups will need to register in advance as we will be providing T-shirts for the Day of Action & will be matching volunteers and agencies based on their project preferences.

In 2024, we deployed over 175 volunteers to 20 service projects across 17 nonprofits. We hope you'll join us this year!
